Văn Quyết sent his apologies to supporters following Hà Nội FC's empty-handed campaign, and stated that the club would bounce back stronger in the upcoming season.
The 2025/26 V.League season ended in a way no one at Hà Nội FC wanted. TrThe 1-1 draw against CLB Công an TP.HCM at Hàng Đẫy Stadium in the final round not only caused the capital team to miss the chance to improve their position but also ended a year of empty-handed play. For the first time in many years, Hà Nội FC could not be among the top three teams, leaving great disappointment for fans.
After the final whistle, captain Nguyễn Văn Quyết was the first to step up and take responsibility. Instead of avoiding pressure, the veteran striker frankly acknowledged his own and the team's shortcomings. For him, the current result is unacceptable given that Hà Nội FC has always been seen as a top contender for all domestic titles.
The striker, born in 1991, emotionally shared: "Regarding this match, I personally am very disappointed with myself. I want to thank all the spectators on behalf of the players. Everyone knows that throughout the journey of the past season, we had victories and also defeats. But this is a season where we did not fulfill our mission. I am extremely grateful to the spectators who have always followed and supported the team. We will try to become stronger. Next season, we will start anew to bring joy to the spectators."
Not only blaming himself, Văn Quyết also recognized the reality that Hà Nội FC had not lived up to expectations regarding results. Although the team maintained unity and fighting spirit throughout the season, it was not enough in the top football environment, where final results are always the most important measure.
The captain of Hà Nội FC frankly said: "Football is like life; there are ups and downs. I have to say that Hà Nội FC has tried very hard. The players were united and there were no conflicts. Especially, we had important victories. But in football, results are still the most important. We didn't achieve any medals this season. Not only myself but all the players have realized that we still have many shortcomings. I myself will have to work harder, because other teams also invest a lot."
Looking ahead to the new season, Văn Quyết affirmed that Hà Nội FC will not be defeated by failure. He emphasized: "Certainly, we will always uphold the team spirit and we will look for quality players. As for preparation, everyone knows that the players are very tired now. We will learn profound lessons because the team has had memorable lessons. This year we left the top three, but that doesn't mean we give up. We hope that the spectators will always follow and support Hà Nội Club, because everyone knows that Hà Nội Club has achieved a lot of glory. Now is the time we need the spectators most, need family, and hope that everything will return to the team in the best way possible." Those responsible shares are also a promise of a strong return for the capital team in the upcoming season.
