The FIFA Talent Discovery and Selection Criteria Workshop concluded with a closing ceremony.

The closing ceremony of the FIFA Workshop on Talent Discovery and Selection Criteria took place on the afternoon of June 8 in Ho Chi Minh City, wrapping up three days of fruitful discussions that benefited over 40 learners, comprising coaches and football experts from the southern area.

Prior to the closing ceremony, the attendees continued their discussions on the process of identifying and assessing potential athletes, covering both male and female players. They were divided into various groups to analyze and evaluate, subsequently developing detailed criteria for evaluating a potential athlete for selection.

Notably, the workshop also set aside time to discuss the selection process for female athletes, as well as the current state of women's football in Vietnam.

According to expert Doan Minh Xuong, there are currently five organizations running women's football teams with approximately 500 players. Meanwhile, Mr. Dao Huy Hung, who is in charge of women's football in Ho Chi Minh City, highlighted the difficulties regarding infrastructure and the obstacles in finding and selecting female players…

After listening to the various opinions, expert Eric Abrams stated that he would compile and assess the feedback, then submit recommendations to the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) in order to develop a more effective approach for evaluating and selecting talented athletes for Vietnamese football.

Speaking at the closing ceremony on behalf of the attendees, former striker Luu Ngoc Mai expressed gratitude to the VFF for its care and for creating the best conditions for participants to learn about international football selection methods. She also thanked expert Eric Abrams for providing valuable knowledge, which she regarded as a great motivation for their future coaching journey.

As the lead instructor throughout the three-day workshop, expert Eric Abrams expressed his gratitude to the VFF for the opportunity to share his knowledge. The FIFA expert also noted that he had wonderful interactions and experiences with the participants over the past two and a half days. Through the knowledge and experiences gained from this workshop, Mr. Eric Abrams expressed his hope to embark on a long journey together in identifying young talents for Vietnamese football.
