Pedri shines as Spain sends a warning to their rivals for the 2026 World Cup.

Spain had a perfect warm-up for the 2026 World Cup by defeating Peru 3-1 in a friendly match, thereby reaffirming their status as one of the top contenders for the title.

With less than a week to go before the opening match of the 2026 World Cup against Cabo Verde, the Spanish national team delivered an impressive dress rehearsal by overcoming Peru 3-1.

La Roja started with great enthusiasm and scored as early as the 2nd minute. From outside the box, Mikel Oyarzabal fired a precise shot past goalkeeper Pedro Gallese to open the scoring for the European side.

After the early goal, Spain completely controlled the game with dominant ball possession. In the 32nd minute, Ferran Torres set up Pedri, who finished accurately to make it 2-0.

In the second half, coach Luis de la Fuente made several substitutions to test the squad. Despite this, Spain maintained their pressure. In the 53rd minute, the red-clad team scored a rather fortunate third goal when goalkeeper Pedro Gallese awkwardly turned a cross from the right wing into his own net.

Pedri continued to display impressive form in midfield.

Peru did not give up and pulled one back in the 66th minute. Marcos Lopez delivered a helpful pass for Jairo Velez to break through and fire a shot into the top corner past David Raya, scoring a consolation goal for the South American representative.

In the remaining minutes, Peru tried hard to find more goals, but Spain's defense stood firm to preserve their advantage. In the end, Spain won 3-1 against Peru, thus having a favorable warm-up ahead of their 2026 World Cup campaign.
