Manchester United officially announced their fifth summer signing, but he will definitely not play for the first team! One player returns after the World Cup and is preparing for a transfer.

On Monday, Manchester United confirmed the addition of Welsh U21 goalkeeper Kit Margetson, having agreed a compensation deal with Swansea City of the Championship. Despite Margetson being a free agent, the FA regulations required United to pay compensation to sign him.

Margetson's contract with Swansea expired this summer, and the 20-year-old announced earlier this month that he would leave to join Manchester United. He joined the club at age 15 but never made a first-team appearance. Last season, Swansea loaned him to Connah's Quay Nomads in the Welsh Premier League, where he made 31 appearances.

This summer, Margetson decided to leave Swansea mainly because his father Martin, who was previously Swansea's goalkeeping director, left after last season. Manchester United's announcement was very brief, without disclosing the length of Margetson's contract. In fact, the reason Margetson received an official announcement was largely to fill a gap, as the club had not announced any new signings for a while.

Manchester United had previously announced three signings in one week—Andre Santos, Karl Darlow, and Youri Tielemans—but then fell silent. As a result, the club announced the arrivals of two young players: the fourth signing, 19-year-old winger Tynan Thompson, and the fifth signing, Margetson.

Margetson will definitely not make it into Carrick's first team. The club's main goalkeeper remains Senna Lammers, new signing Darlow will be the second-choice keeper, 40-year-old veteran Tom Heaton is third, and youth academy product Dermot Mee is a training squad player. Both Heaton and Mee recently renewed their contracts this summer.

Manchester United also signed another young talent this summer: 18-year-old Cristian Orozco, who traveled from Colombia to Carrington to complete a medical. After celebrating his birthday this month, he met the conditions for an international transfer. However, United did not officially announce Orozco's transfer.

This week, two Manchester United players who participated in the World Cup returned to the squad: Ivory Coast winger Amad Diallo and Turkish international goalkeeper Altay Bayındır. Among them, 27-year-old Bayındır will leave in the summer transfer window, as he has no place in Carrick's future plans.

Amad's Ivory Coast national team advanced to the knockout stages of the World Cup, so he returned after a normal holiday. However, Bayındır, although selected for the Turkish national team for the World Cup, did not play a single minute, and Turkey was eliminated in the group stage.

If the original three-week holiday had been followed, Bayındır would have returned earlier. Scottish midfielder Tyler Fletcher did exactly that, joining Carrick's training camp from the start. However, United extended Bayındır's holiday, hoping he could find a new club during this time.

Unfortunately, Bayındır has yet to secure a transfer, so he had to return to Carrington for pre-season training while continuing to look for his future. His next destination is expected to be the Turkish Super Lig, but there has been no substantial progress. Another Manchester United goalkeeper, 22-year-old Czech prospect Radek Vitek, will also leave this summer as he wants to be a starter rather than stay as Lammers' backup. If both transfers go smoothly, United could receive around £15 million in transfer fees, which would provide some financial relief.
