VFF locks in the timing for the 10th Congress in December 2026

The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) Executive Committee has reached a consensus to convene the 10th Congress (term 2026-2030) in mid-December 2026 in Hanoi. This decision was among the key items approved during the 13th session of the VFF Executive Committee of the 9th term, held on the afternoon of July 28.

The session was attended by Deputy Director of the Vietnam Sports Administration Nguyen Hong Minh, along with VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan, Vice Presidents, members of the Executive Committee, and leaders of functional departments and affiliated units of the VFF.

In his opening remarks, VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan observed that Vietnamese football is experiencing many positive signals, with national teams sustaining commendable performances on the international stage while continuing to enjoy the support of partners and sponsors. He stressed that the term's key objectives are being implemented in the right direction and called on the Executive Committee to focus discussions on critical matters, especially personnel preparation and the 10th VFF Congress.

General Secretary Nguyen Van Phu presented a preliminary review report on activities in the first half of the year and the work orientation for the second half of 2026. According to the report, the VFF continues to coordinate the implementation of tasks in professional areas, competition organization, training, youth football development, women's football, futsal, refereeing, communications, and external relations, following the plan approved by the 2025 Annual Congress.

In the professional sphere, the national teams, U23 squads, and men's and women's futsal teams have all been assembled, trained, and competed as scheduled, achieving positive outcomes in international competitions. Youth teams continue to receive investment to prepare for major tournaments this year. The VFF is also working with VPF Company to finalize the plan for organizing national professional football competitions for the 2026/2027 season, ensuring alignment with the calendars of FIFA, AFC, and AFF.

Regarding development, the VFF continues to boost youth training, advance women's football, futsal, and grassroots football; enhance training for coaches and referees; apply technology and data analysis in professional work; and expand communication activities to promote the image of Vietnamese football.

At the conclusion of the session, the Executive Committee unanimously approved the preliminary review report for the first six months and the action plan for the last six months of 2026; the activity plan for the national teams; the preparation for organizing national professional football competitions for the 2026/2027 season; and also agreed to hold the 10th VFF Congress in mid-December 2026 in Hanoi.

The Executive Committee also approved the draft personnel plan for the Executive Committee, Inspection Committee, Disciplinary Committee, and Appeal Committee of the 10th term, assigning the Congress Organizing Committee and the Personnel Subcommittee to continue gathering input from member organizations to finalize it in accordance with the Charter and current regulations.

In his closing speech, VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan urged professional units to promptly implement the approved tasks, closely coordinate in preparing for the 10th Congress, and accomplish the key objectives of Vietnamese football in the final months of 2026.
