Liverpool unveils new away kit, New York's iconic landmark glows red in celebration

Liverpool officially unveiled the new away kit for the 2026/27 season through a grand event in New York (USA), featuring the Empire State Building lit up in the distinctive red of the Merseyside club.

On the evening of July 28 (local time), Liverpool revealed the new away kit designed by Adidas, which the team will wear throughout the 2026/27 season. According to the club, the kit combines "timeless design with modern performance innovations," drawing inspiration from Liverpool's classic away kits of the 1980s.

The kit features a predominantly white shirt paired with red shorts and white socks. Highlights include the classic Adidas Trefoil logo and the signature three stripes on the shoulders. Alongside the match kit, Liverpool also released a lifestyle collection and coordinated training wear. All products will go on sale starting July 29.

To promote the new kit, Liverpool organized a series of large-scale activities in New York. Most notably, the Empire State Building was bathed in the club's red color. Additionally, the club hosted an event along the East River in Brooklyn, with a backdrop overlooking Manhattan's famous skyline.

Liverpool legends Ian Rush and Robbie Fowler attended the event. Speaking to fans, Fowler enthusiastically said, "Rushy and I would definitely love to wear this kit and score a decisive goal against Manchester United at Old Trafford."

Liverpool also turned a classic New York taxi into a promotional vehicle, covering it entirely in white and red, with the club logo and the Adidas Trefoil symbol.

The Anfield side will debut the new away kit in a friendly match against Wrexham A.F.C. at Yankee Stadium on July 29.

Meanwhile, new head coach Andoni Iraola has had a promising start, leading Liverpool to a 4-2 victory over Sunderland in a friendly in Nashville last weekend. The Spanish tactician's next challenge will be a clash with Wrexham on American soil.

Left-back Milos Kerkez, who previously worked with Iraola at Bournemouth before moving to Liverpool for a significant fee a year ago, believes the manager is the perfect choice for the club.

"I was really thrilled when I heard he was coming to Liverpool. I've worked with Iraola before, and he helped me improve a lot during our two years together. Not just me, but the whole team is excited because everyone understands how he builds his style of play. In my opinion, Iraola is the perfect choice for Liverpool," Kerkez shared with ESPN.

Speaking about the Spanish coach's training methods, the Hungarian defender said: "The most outstanding thing is the intensity. He's not afraid to let players go one-on-one across the pitch, press high, and always look to attack. Just seeing the whole team collapse after every training session is enough to understand what we're being prepared for. To play under Iraola's philosophy, players must have a very solid physical foundation, but I believe we will meet that standard."
