Bui Vi Hao successfully underwent surgery, now facing a long road back to the pitch

The morning of July 30 saw leaders of Becamex Ho Chi Minh City Football Club pay a visit to Van Hanh Hospital to offer support to forward Bui Vi Hao, who had just undergone a successful operation for a knee ligament injury. Representatives from the club's supporters' group also joined the visit.

Bui Vi Hao sustained the injury during a training session preparing for the National First Division season (V.League 2). Test results revealed that the striker, born in 2003, suffered a torn knee ligament, necessitating surgery. According to the club, the operation went smoothly, but Vi Hao will now enter a long treatment and recovery process, with an expected absence from competition until the end of 2026.

This is the second time in less than two years that Bui Vi Hao has had to undergo a major surgery due to injury. Previously, in 2025, the An Giang-born striker fractured the lower third of his fibula along with a torn right ankle ligament, forcing him to miss nearly nine months of play before returning to the field. However, just as he regained his match rhythm, he unfortunately suffered another severe knee injury.

Vi Hao's long-term absence is a significant loss for Becamex Ho Chi Minh City as they prepare for the new season. Meanwhile, the striker, who has represented the U20, U23, and senior Vietnam national teams, will also continue to miss many national team plans if he does not recover as expected.

The care shown by the club's leadership and fans is expected to provide extra motivation for Bui Vi Hao to overcome this difficult period. Supporters also hope that the 23-year-old forward will complete his recovery soon and return to the pitch in top form.
