Singapore coach: 'A point against Vietnam is very valuable'

Head coach Gavin Lee stated that Singapore aimed for victory, but a draw with Vietnam is still commendable.

Vietnam wasted chances and were held to a 0-0 draw by Singapore in the third match of Group A of the 2026 ASEAN Cup at My Dinh Stadium.

In the post-match press conference, Singapore head coach Gavin Lee said: "We expected a win, but this result also makes me satisfied. The Singapore fans deserve to see a good performance."

Vietnam is a championship contender. Today we played good defense. But our goal was to win.

Two years ago we faced Vietnam in the semifinals, and today we had experience.

"If I want the players to stay calm, I also have to be calm, and we did it."

Meanwhile, center-back Harris Harun shared: "We also had chances to score, but earning one point is also very valuable."

The draw against Vietnam gives confidence to the whole team, but we haven't advanced yet.
