ASEAN Cup 2026: Vietnam National Team Rushes Preparations for the Big Battle Against Indonesia

According to a VNA correspondent in Indonesia, flight VJ929 carrying the Vietnam team from Noi Bai Airport landed at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta at around 1:00 PM local time on August 1. The team then continued by bus to Bogor, where the match against Indonesia will take place on the evening of August 3 at Pakansari Stadium.

The constant travel meant the Vietnam team could not organize training on the first day. The entire squad will rest to recover their strength and will have only one official training session on August 2 before the match considered the most important in the group stage.

Meanwhile, the Indonesia team has just returned from Thailand after a 3-0 victory over Timor Leste in the second matchday. Both teams have only two days of rest before the clash, leaving both sides with limited preparation time.

The 0-0 draw against Singapore at My Dinh Stadium made the situation in Group A more tense for the Vietnam team. After two matches, Coach Kim Sang Sik's side has 4 points, temporarily behind Singapore (7 points, but having played one more match) and Indonesia (6 points after two matches). This means Vietnam needs a positive result at Pakansari Stadium to regain control of their destiny in the race for a semi-final spot.

According to the plan, the Vietnam team will stay at the Harris Hotel & Convention Cibinong City Mall Bogor during their time in Indonesia before the important match against the host nation.
