The Vietnam national team prioritizes physical recovery ahead of the match against Indonesia.

Having traveled from Hanoi through Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta, the Vietnam national team is now in Bogor, Indonesia, getting ready for their away match against Indonesia in Group A of the 2026 ASEAN Championship.

Due to limited preparation time, head coach Kim Sang Sik decided not to hold a training session on the first day. Instead, the entire team was given priority to rest and recover their physical condition to ensure the best fitness foundation before the important match.

After checking into the hotel, the players performed recovery exercises in the pool area to relieve fatigue from the journey while maintaining their sense of movement.

According to the plan, on the afternoon of August 2, the Vietnam national team will have an official training session at Pakansari Stadium. This will also be the only training session for the coaching staff to finalize tactical plans before the match against the host Indonesia.

Before the training session, coach Kim Sang Sik and a representative of the Vietnamese players will attend the pre-match press conference.

On the other side, Indonesia returned after their away match against Timor Leste at Chonburi Stadium but continued to stay in Jakarta for training and recovery, before moving to Bogor on the day of the match.

The clash between Indonesia and Vietnam will take place at 8:30 PM on August 3 at Pakansari Stadium. This is considered a crucial match in the race for a spot in the next round of Group A in the 2026 ASEAN Championship.

The situation in Group A after three rounds is becoming extremely tense, with Singapore temporarily leading with 7 points from 3 matches, Indonesia second with a perfect 6 points from 2 matches. Vietnam is currently outside the top two that would qualify for the semifinals, sitting third with 4 points from 2 matches.

After a disappointing 0-0 draw at home in My Dinh against Singapore, Vietnam finds itself in a situation where they cannot afford to lose to Indonesia.
