Arsenal kicked off the new season with a resounding 4-1 victory over La Liga relegated side Girona, with a 16-year-old talent contributing a goal and an assist, and a €40 million new signing scoring on his debut.

In a pre-season friendly that ended on August 2 Beijing time, Premier League champions Arsenal demolished La Liga relegated team Girona 4-1, achieving a comprehensive victory to kick off the new season.

Even though the opponent was a weak Segunda División team, Arsenal boss Arteta still deployed the strongest possible eleven. Greek winger Tzolis, a new signing who just joined for €40 million from the summer window, started and made his debut for Arsenal.

Just 16 minutes into the match, 16-year-old Doman delivered a clever through ball, and Havertz slotted home a one-on-one chance to give Arsenal a dream start.

In the 30th minute, Calafiori provided a pass, and new signing Tzolis cut inside before unleashing a fierce shot into the net, scoring on his debut to extend Arsenal's lead to 2-0.

After the break, Girona pulled one back in the 50th minute. However, just three minutes later, the 16-year-old prodigy Doman received an assist from Skelly and scored with a long-range effort, making it 3-1 for Arsenal.

Two minutes later, a defensive clearance error by Girona allowed Jesus to easily tap the ball into the net, sealing the 4-1 victory for Arsenal.

In the end, Arsenal secured a resounding win. On August 6 at 21:00, Arsenal will face La Liga powerhouse Real Betis. After that, before the Premier League season starts, Arsenal will also participate in the Emirates Cup and the Community Shield competition.
