Manchester United player set to leave next week! La Liga club has applied for a loan, but the Red Devils hope to sell directly at a reduced price.

Manchester United goalkeeper Altay Bayindir was absent from the preseason friendly against Atletico Madrid. The 28-year-old Turkish international traveled with the squad to Sweden but was not named in the matchday squad, watching the game from the stands. According to BBC Sport's Simon Stone, Bayindir is set to depart soon.

La Liga side Celta Vigo are very interested in signing Bayindir, but currently no agreement has been reached among the three parties, and there are other clubs interested in the Turkish international. Bayindir attempted to move to Besiktas in January, but the transfer fell through. Now Besiktas have signed Alexander Nübel from Bayern Munich, so they no longer need the United goalkeeper.

Bayindir's time at Old Trafford is still destined to end, for a clear reason: he has no place at Manchester United. Van der Gaag chose to include veteran Tom Heaton and two young goalkeepers, Radek Vitek and Dermot Mee, in the matchday squad. Bayindir trained alone on the pitch with two ball boys before the game, then watched the match from the stands.

Celta have made him a proposal, initially considering a loan deal, but Manchester United have made it clear they want a permanent transfer. Sources confirm that Celta are indeed interested in signing him, but negotiations are ongoing, and the next step will determine whether Bayindir can join.

Bayindir joined from Fenerbahce in the summer of 2023 for around €5 million (£4.3 million), initially as backup to Andre Onana. At the start of last season, he gained the trust of Ruben Amorim and became the starter, while Onana was loaned to Turkish side Trabzonspor. Unfortunately, Bayindir made too many mistakes. After that, Seina Ramens joined from Royal Antwerp and became the undisputed first-choice goalkeeper, performing exceptionally well and even being named the Premier League signing of the season.

This summer, Manchester United changed their backup goalkeeper options, signing Karl Darlow on a free transfer from Leeds United as Ramens' deputy, and renewing Heaton's contract as the third choice. With these changes, Bayindir not only has no chance of regular first-team football at United but may even struggle to secure a spot on the bench.

In three years, Bayindir has made only 17 appearances for Manchester United. Therefore, leaving the club is the wise choice for him. Celta want to resolve their goalkeeper situation before the new La Liga season begins, with the club president stating that a new starting goalkeeper is imminent. Bayindir needs sufficient playing time to continue representing the Turkish national team; becoming a starter in Spain is far better than watching from the sidelines at United.

For Manchester United, the situation is different. Bayindir's contract is in its final year, although there is a one-year extension option. If they loan him out, he could leave for free next year, which is clearly not the best outcome. Selling him now, even for a price lower than what they paid Fenerbahce, would allow United to avoid a loss.

As a result, Celta's initial offer was a loan, but United want a permanent deal. Bundesliga side Stuttgart and some Turkish Super Lig clubs are also interested in him; if Bayindir's talks with Celta fail, he has other options.

Bayindir himself has not yet made a public statement. He told a fan at Carrington Training Ground that he doesn't know what the future holds and can only wait for time to provide the answer. Nothing is certain yet, but the situation is clear: United want to offload the player to receive a transfer fee and save wages, Celta need a new starting goalkeeper, and Bayindir wants more playing time. An agreement that satisfies everyone's needs is in the interest of all parties; otherwise, all three would suffer, and such deals usually get done eventually. It is reported that Bayindir could complete his transfer as early as next week.
