Shea Lacey is exciting Manchester United fans after a promising performance against Atletico Madrid. The 19-year-old talent is expected to become a special discovery for the "Red Devils" in the upcoming season.

Manchester United continues their preparation for the new season with a 2-1 victory over Atletico Madrid. Bryan Mbeumo scored both goals, helping the Old Trafford side successfully come from behind in the second half. However, it was Shea Lacey who garnered the most attention from fans.

Deployed on the right flank, the academy graduate from MU constantly cut inside with his skillful left foot. In the second half, Lacey operated closer to the central area and won a penalty that led to the equalizer. The young English talent showed technical skill to beat his opponent before being brought down by a late challenge.

According to Statman Dave, Lacey had 30 touches, a 100% cross accuracy rate, successfully completed two dribbles and four passes in the final third. He also made seven ball recoveries, showing his work rate in pressing and defensive support.

His ball control, quick changes of direction, and his cultured left foot have led some fans to compare Lacey to "MU's Lionel Messi". This is mainly a way for supporters to express their excitement, but the 19-year-old's technical qualities truly bring high expectations.

Lacey made his first-team debut in a 1-2 loss to Aston Villa last December and had a total of four appearances last season. In the current pre-season, the England U20 international continues to make his mark, notably scoring the opening goal in a 5-0 win over Rosenborg.

According to BBC, Lacey is at the top of the list of academy talents likely to be given opportunities. MU has no plans to let him leave on loan. Lacey, along with Tyler Fletcher - son of former midfielder Darren Fletcher, will continue training and competing for a place in the first team.

Returning to European competition means MU needs greater squad depth. Lacey could be used when Bruno Fernandes or Mason Mount need rest, and also become a backup option for Mbeumo and Amad Diallo on the right flank. The "Red Devils" will continue to test this young talent in the upcoming match against European champions Paris Saint-Germain.
