MU star makes strong statement about Premier League title

Leny Yoro believes that Man United is ready to return to the Premier League title race after a strong revival under manager Michael Carrick.

Man United just came from behind to beat Atletico Madrid 2-1 in their third friendly match of the summer in Stockholm. After the match, defender Leny Yoro shared confident remarks about the Red Devils' goals for the new season.

"Of course Man United can compete for the Premier League title. We are Man United, so we must always think that way. I know the team has the potential to do it, so we have to act to make it a reality.", Yoro declared.

Man United has been unable to reach the summit of English football since the 2012/13 season. That was the final season Sir Alex Ferguson managed the Old Trafford side before retiring. In the 13 years since, the Red Devils have constantly changed managers and invested heavily in the transfer market, but have never once regained the Premier League title. The team even finished a season in 15th place, their worst result in 51 years.

However, belief has returned to Old Trafford since Michael Carrick was appointed in January. Under the guidance of the former English midfielder, Man United won 12 of 17 matches, suffered only two defeats, and finished the season in third place.

Yoro also stated that great ambitions are accompanied by a positive spirit in the dressing room. Man United wants to maintain focus game by game, rather than just making pre-season statements.

"The goal this season is to win every game. We want to become the strongest team. Personally, I also want to play well in every match, win titles, and bring Man United back to the top.", the French defender added.

Yoro's confidence is similar to the earlier statement by Bryan Mbeumo. The Man United attacking star once promised fans that the team would have a "unprecedented special" under Carrick.

The Red Devils are also enjoying rare stability ahead of the new season. While Liverpool, Man City, and Chelsea all changed managers in the summer, Carrick has had time to build a system and create clear changes at Old Trafford.

Arsenal remains the biggest rival to overcome after winning the title last season. However, the positive results under Carrick and the growing confidence in the dressing room lead to expectations that Man United will return to the long-term race.

The victory over Atletico Madrid was just a friendly, but Yoro's statement shows that the ambition at Old Trafford has changed. After 13 years of waiting, Man United does not just want to return to the top group, but is aiming straight for the Premier League title.
