Manchester United's £5 million man is set to be loaned out, with a medical scheduled! World Cup internationals are about to return for pre-season.

According to Spanish media, Manchester United goalkeeper Altay Bayindir arrived in Vigo, Spain on Sunday, and will undergo a medical at Celta Vigo on Monday before signing. The transfer may be slightly delayed, but the departure of the 28-year-old Turkish international is a certainty.

Bayindir joined Manchester United in the summer of 2023 for a €5 million fee, but has only made 17 appearances in the following three years. In the first two years, André Onana was the Red Devils' first-choice goalkeeper. Last summer, Bayindir briefly became the starter, but due to repeated errors, he was replaced by new £18 million signing Senne Lammens.

With Manchester United signing free-agent Welsh international goalkeeper Karl Darlow this summer, Bayindir has lost his position as second-choice goalkeeper. The club is willing to let him leave, even on loan, to save on his wages. After all, keeping him would mean having an extra goalkeeper who is of no use.

Bayindir's basic salary at Manchester United is £35,000, plus nearly £9,000 in bonuses, totaling £44,000 per week, costing at least £1.8 million per year.

Spanish newspaper AS reports that Bayindir will undergo a medical on Monday to complete his move to Celta. The La Liga club is expected to make an official announcement this week, and Bayindir is expected to join his new teammates at a training camp in Italy. The paper says there is very little chance of Manchester United receiving a transfer fee from Celta, and Bayindir will have to take a pay cut if he wants to join permanently.

Vigo's Metropolitano newspaper reports that Celta head coach Claudio Giráldez wants Bayindir to compete with Andrei Radu for the starting goalkeeper spot next season. For Bayindir, that is much better than staying at Manchester United where he can't even be the third-choice goalkeeper.

The Manchester Evening News also confirmed that Celta are leading the race for Bayindir, and the Turkish goalkeeper is very likely to leave the club in the coming days. Manager Carrick has given the green light for his transfer as the team enters the final phase of pre-season preparations.

The last few internationals involved in the World Cup, including Portugal's Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot, Brazil's Cunha, Morocco's Noussair Mazraoui, England's Kobbie Mainoo and Marcus Rashford, and even Argentina's Lisandro Martínez, will all return to the club by next week at the latest.

Although the team may find it difficult to quickly complete all new signings, Carrick hopes to at least offload players who are no longer needed, in order to free up space and avoid wasting manpower, which could affect the team's overall preparation. Among the players listed for transfer in the summer window, Bayindir is a must-sell, while Zirkzee's future is uncertain, and Rashford is basically confirmed to stay.
