Visiting China again after three years? Reports say Argentina's men's football team will come to China in September for two friendlies, with opponents yet to be confirmed.

According to a report by authoritative foreign media ESPN on August 3, Beijing time, the Argentine national team plans to play two friendly matches in China in September or October.

It is reported that the Argentine national team may play three friendlies between September and October, with two taking place in China and the other in the capital, Buenos Aires.

The domestic match will be the first of these, aiming to allow the entire Argentine squad to reunite with their fans. Additionally, the Argentine Football Association plans to have 39-year-old captain Messi participate in this first match to receive cheers and tributes from local supporters.

In June 2023, after winning the World Cup, Argentina came to China and played a friendly against Australia at the Beijing Workers' Stadium, which was a huge commercial success. In 2024, Argentina had planned to visit China again but the trip was unfortunately canceled. If Argentina does visit China this autumn, it will be their first match in the country in three years.

In the recently concluded World Cup, the Argentine men's football team reached the final for the second consecutive time but lost 0-1 to Spain after extra time, failing to defend their title and win the fourth World Cup championship in their history.

As of now, Argentina's remaining friendly opponents and specific arrangements for this year have not been finalized. However, since the Chinese men's football team's friendly opponents for September and October have already been confirmed—all focused on preparing for the Asian Cup—it is essentially certain that the Chinese national team will not face Argentina.
