Defender Bui Hoang Viet Anh has had his wound treated.

After the Vietnam national team's 3-0 win against Indonesia, the defender Bui Hoang Viet Anh was taken to the hospital by the medical staff to treat the cut above his eyebrow.

The doctors stitched the wound to speed up the recovery process. Fortunately, the injury was not too serious and did not significantly affect the condition of the player born in 1999.

Viet Anh suffered a strong collision in the 27th minute during an aerial duel with Indonesian striker Mitchell Baker. Although his eyebrow area was cut and bleeding heavily, the Vietnam national team defender returned to the field after being bandaged, played with great determination, and contributed to his team's clean sheet in the 3-0 victory.

This was Bui Hoang Viet Anh's first match at the ASEAN Cup 2026. Against a physically strong opponent like Indonesia, the defender born in 1999 was tasked by coach Kim Sang Sik with "locking down" aerial situations, especially the threat of Mitchell Baker, a striker standing 1.96 m tall who had been in top form with several goals since the start of the tournament.

Despite being 12 cm shorter than his opponent (Viet Anh is 1.84 m tall), the Vietnam national team defender compensated with his positioning, reading of the game, and experience. He continuously engaged in fierce battles with Baker, did not shy away from contact, and successfully neutralized many aerial balls aimed at the goal.

It was during an aerial duel with Baker in the 27th minute that Viet Anh suffered a cut above his eyebrow after a heavy collision. Despite heavy bleeding and having to leave the field for the doctors to stop the bleeding and bandage him, the 27-year-old defender returned to play with a bandage wrapped around his head. Viet Anh's courageous spirit helped Vietnam's defense neutralize the tall Indonesian striker and keep a clean sheet in the convincing 3-0 victory.
