AFC praises Vietnam's overwhelming victory over Indonesia

The AFC account commented on Vietnam's stunning win against Indonesia in the group stage of the 2026 ASEAN Cup.

On the evening of August 3, Vietnam won a dominant 3-0 victory over Indonesia thanks to goals from Van Vi, Hai Long, and Xuan Son. Right after the match, the AFC account praised coach Kim Sang Sik's team: "The Golden Star Warriors have regained control of their destiny in Group A of the 2026 AFF Cup with an overwhelming victory over the Indonesia team (nicknamed Garuda)."

Indonesian newspaper Bola published an article with the headline: "3 Indonesian players who performed worst against Vietnam: Disappointing defense."

According to this newspaper, goalkeeper Nadeo Argawinata, center-backs Rizky Ridho and Jordi Amat made many mistakes against Vietnam's attack.

Meanwhile, CNN Indonesia commented: "Indonesia suffered a shocking 0-3 defeat to Vietnam in the group stage of the 2026 AFF Cup. Vietnam's explosive start was the decisive factor of the match."
