Thái Nguyên has officially become the latest locality following Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Quảng Ninh to field both professional men's and women's teams, marking a significant turning point for the region's football.

This is seen as an important milestone, reflecting a well-planned investment strategy and the ambition to elevate the football of the tea land to a new level.

Few still remember that less than a decade ago, Thái Nguyên women's football faced the risk of disappearing. At the end of 2019, the team was in a severe funding shortage, with low incomes forcing many players to temporarily put aside their passion and work as factory workers to make a living.

The turning point only truly came when T&T Group decided to accompany and fully sponsor the team. The new resources significantly improved welfare conditions, enabling players to pursue their careers with peace of mind, laying the foundation for the sustainable development of Thái Nguyên women's football.

Not only investing financially, Thái Nguyên T&T has also continuously made its mark in the market. In 2022, the team became a pioneer in paying transfer fees for female players, opening a new development step for the Vietnamese women's football transfer market. By the 2024 season, the team further raised its ambitions by recruiting a series of national team players such as Trần Thị Kim Thanh, Nguyễn Thị Bích Thùy, and Trần Thị Thu, while appointing former Vietnamese Golden Ball winner 2003 Văn Thị Thanh, one of the rare female Vietnamese coaches holding an AFC Pro license, as head coach.

While women's football has achieved many successes, Thái Nguyên men's football also received historic good news. The Hanoi Youth team was officially transferred to become Thái Nguyên , operating under a socialized model managed by the Thái Nguyên Football Joint Stock Company.

Notably, this is not simply a renaming of the team or a change of venue. The local goal is to build a team that truly carries the Thái Nguyên identity, connects with fans, and develops sustainably. In their first season in the First Division, the tea land team aims to compete for a top-6 position, while gradually building a youth training system including U15, U17, U19, and U21 levels to secure future resources.

One of the special aspects of the transfer process is that Thái Nguyên not only took over the First Division slot but also received nearly the entire player squad, coaching staff, and professional foundation. This helps the team quickly adapt to the new season without having to spend transfer fees to build the squad from scratch.
