The Vietnam national team had only 20 players taking part in the training session at My Dinh Stadium, preparing for the match against Cambodia in the last group stage match of Group A of the 2026 ASEAN Cup.

Five players did not appear on the field: goalkeeper Dang Van Lam, defender Doan Van Hau, and three naturalized players Do Hoang Hen, Nguyen Xuan Son, and Nguyen Tai Loc. Opening ceremony of the B/AFC/VFF women's football coach certification course.

Phase 1 of the B/AFC/VFF women's football coach certificate course has officially commenced, marking another step in the roadmap to develop and enhance the quality of Vietnam's women's football coaching staff. The course takes place from August 6 to 17.

Speaking at the ceremony, General Secretary Nguyen Van Phu emphasized that coach training plays a crucial role in the strategy for developing women's football, and expressed his expectation that the trainees will fully utilize their knowledge and experience to enhance the quality of coaching after finishing the course.

This is a course dedicated to women's football under the training program of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), with all participants being former players or coaches currently working at training centers and women's football clubs nationwide. The course content integrates theory and practice, focusing on modern coaching methods, player development, and team management in line with AFC standards.

After completing Phase 1, the trainees will proceed to fulfill professional requirements before moving on to the next phase of the training program, meeting all standards for the B/AFC/VFF certificate issuance.

Overseas Vietnamese player joins Xuan Thien Phu Tho.

Xuan Thien Phu Tho FC officially announced the signing of overseas Vietnamese midfielder Brandon Ly, a player of Vietnamese and Irish heritage, to bolster the squad for the new season.

Brandon Ly was born on December 7, 2005 in England, with a Vietnamese father and an Irish mother. Introduced to football at a young age, he soon displayed talent and matured in the professional football training environment of the foggy country (England).

During his career development, Brandon played for the youth teams of Sheffield United, Hyde United, and notably Burnley U21. In the 2024/25 season, the midfielder made 9 appearances for Burnley U21, scoring 3 goals, including one against Luton Town U21 in the Premier League youth competition.

In the 2025/26 season, Brandon Ly returned to Vietnam to play for Hanoi Police FC. One season in the V.League helped the overseas Vietnamese midfielder gain more experience and quickly adapt to the Vietnamese football environment.
