Singapore vs Indonesia: Indonesia's Chances of Elimination Are Very High

Indonesia Under Enormous Pressure

After three matchdays, Singapore sits second in Group A with 7 points, just one point ahead of Indonesia. The gap is not large, but it is decisive. If they manage to secure at least one point at home, the "Lions" will advance to the semifinals regardless of other results.

That advantage allows Singapore to approach the match in a very pragmatic way. Without needing to push forward recklessly, Gavin Lee's team can prioritize defensive solidity, waiting for Indonesia to be forced to attack and then exploiting the spaces through counterattacks.

According to Indonesian football expert Muhamad Kusnaeni, Coach John Herdman's first priority is to restore the players' morale. The heavy defeat to Vietnam has certainly affected the team's confidence, and if the mental issue is not resolved, Indonesia will find it very difficult to perform at their best.

Additionally, Kusnaeni believes that Herdman needs to adjust his tactics instead of rigidly sticking to the 3-4-3 formation. In his view, Singapore may not be as fast and powerful as Vietnam, but they are extremely disciplined, well-organized, and very good at controlling their defensive shape.

The expert also pointed out that Indonesia needs to diversify their attacking options. Over-reliance on crosses from the flanks for striker Baker or early passes from Thom Haye has become predictable. Instead, Garuda should boldly play through the middle, create more runs from deep, and increase the number of quality long-range shots.

These are the things Indonesia failed to do against Vietnam. Once they fell behind, the team from the archipelago appeared stuck, lacking ideas, and barely generated enough pressure on the opponent's goal.
