The V.League 2026/27 champion receives huge benefits from the new decision

VPF officially raises the prize money for the V.League 2026/2027 champion to 5 billion VND, the highest ever.

Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF) has just officially announced notable new points of the LPBank V.League 1-2026/2027 season at the draw and schedule ceremony for national professional football tournaments. The highlight is raising the champion's prize to 5 billion VND, the highest ever in the tournament's history, demonstrating the determination to enhance the value and competitiveness of V.League.

According to VPF's announcement, the total prize value for the top three teams of V.League 2026/2027 will reach 9.5 billion VND. Specifically, the champion receives the cup, gold medals, and 5 billion VND in prize money, while the runner-up gets 3 billion VND and the third-place team gets 1.5 billion VND. This is seen as a significant step in increasing the competition motivation for clubs and affirming the status of Vietnam's top football league.

The new season will officially start on September 4, 2026 and end on May 22, 2027, with the participation of 14 teams: Bac Ninh, Cong An Ha Noi, Cong An TP.HCM, Dong A Thanh Hoa, Ha Noi, Hai Phong, Hoang Anh Gia Lai, Hong Linh Ha Tinh, Ninh Binh, SHB Da Nang, Song Lam Nghe An, Thep Xanh Nam Dinh, The Cong - Viettel, and Truong Tuoi Dong Nai. The teams will play a double round-robin, totaling 26 rounds with 182 matches, before determining the champion and the two relegated teams.

In addition to the significantly increased prize value, V.League 2026/2027 also has important adjustments to foreign player regulations. Each club can register up to 4 foreign players and can use all 4 foreign players simultaneously on the field, one more slot than last season. For Vietnamese representatives participating in AFF and AFC tournaments, the number of registered foreign players is increased to a maximum of 7, but only 4 players can be used at the same time.

Not only professional changes, VPF also introduced a completely new brand identity along with the slogan "World Game, Our Festival". The new logo is designed based on the image of number 8 - a symbol of development, prosperity, and sustainability in East Asian culture, reflecting the ambition to develop Vietnamese professional football in a modern and integrated direction.

Alongside that, the 2026/2027 season will continue to be heavily invested in technology. VPF confirmed the operation of 5 FIFA-standard VAR vehicles, expanding the number of matches applying referee support technology, while improving broadcast quality and viewing experience across multiple platforms. With a series of changes from prize money, competition mechanisms to technology, V.League 2026/2027 is expected to create a more attractive and competitive season than ever before.
