Coach Yutaka Ikeuchi leads U20 Vietnam to Japan for pre-qualifying training ahead of the Asian U20 qualifiers

The U20 Vietnam national team set off for Japan on the morning of August 7 for a training stint, marking an important preparatory stage towards the 2027 AFC U20 Asian Cup Qualifiers, where the team under Coach Yutaka Ikeuchi targets to secure a ticket to the finals.

The training trip to Japan, lasting from August 7 to 17, is part of the U20 Vietnam team's preparation plan ahead of the 2027 Asian U20 Qualifiers. It is seen as an opportunity for the coaching staff to continue evaluating the squad, enhance professional quality, and refine tactical approaches.

Previously, the U20 Vietnam team had regrouped since August 3 at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center with a squad of 30 players.

The squad for this gathering includes many faces who gained experience at the 2026 ASEAN U19 Championship in June, along with additional promising talents such as Nguyen Van Khanh, Bach Trong Duong, Le Tan Dung, Nguyen Van Bach, Nguyen Thien Phu, Tran Gia Bao, Le Van Hoan... Through the initial training sessions, the whole team quickly got into rhythm, showing a serious training spirit and determination towards achieving good results at the 2027 Asian U20 Qualifiers.

During the training camp, U20 Vietnam will train at high intensity and play several friendly matches against opponents arranged with support from the Japan Football Association (JFA). These tests are expected to help the players gain more international experience and strengthen their composure before entering the official tournament.

After the training camp concludes on August 17, the whole team will return home to finalize the last preparations for the 2027 Asian U20 Qualifiers.

According to the schedule, Group C of the 2027 Asian U20 Qualifiers will take place from August 31 to September 6 at Viet Tri Stadium (Phu Tho). U20 Vietnam is in the same group as strong opponents: Iran, North Korea (DPR Korea), and Palestine.

With home advantage and thorough preparation, Coach Yutaka Ikeuchi and his team aim to secure a spot in the 2027 AFC U20 Asian Cup finals.
