Even without star Maung Maung Lwin because of a suspension, head coach Jørn Andersen remained confident before the crucial match against Thailand in Group B of the 2026 ASEAN Hyundai Cup.
The Norwegian manager believes Myanmar have prepared thoroughly and will use their experience against the "War Elephants" to aim for a semifinal spot.
Ahead of the decisive match against Thailand, coach Jørn Andersen admitted that Maung Maung Lwin's absence due to suspension is a significant loss for Myanmar.
"It's unfortunate for him and for the team. However, even without him, I believe we can still field a very strong lineup," the Norwegian strategist shared.

Besides the absence of their most important attacking player, Andersen stated that Myanmar has no other significant losses in terms of squad strength.
"We have no serious injury problems and no other major absences. The whole team has prepared and trained very well since the last match, so I believe we are ready."
Myanmar need to create an upset against Thailand to keep their hopes of reaching the semifinals alive. Although he respects the opponent, Andersen believes that his experience from many previous encounters with the "War Elephants" will help him prepare appropriately.
"This is not the first time I have led a team against Thailand. I have faced them many times while coaching North Korea and Hong Kong. So I understand this team, how they play, and how they approach a match."
The 63-year-old coach closed the press conference with optimism: "I hope I can use that experience to help Myanmar in tomorrow's match."
Scenarios for Group B: Philippines advance if: They beat Malaysia by a margin of at least 5 goals, and Thailand also defeat Myanmar.
Myanmar advance if: They beat Thailand, and Malaysia fail to beat Philippines. Or they draw with Thailand, and Malaysia lose to Philippines.
Or they lose to Thailand, and Malaysia lose to Philippines by a margin of 4 goals or fewer.
