The 3-1 victory over Cambodia not only secured Vietnam's place in the ASEAN Cup 2026 semi-finals but also helped Coach Kim Sang Sik establish two notable milestones.

Vietnam finished the group stage with 10 points and topped Group A. This is the best points tally for the Vietnamese team at the ASEAN Cup since 2018.

Coach Kim Sang Sik's team also set a record for the number of goals scored in the group stage since the tournament switched to a home-and-away format in 2018. Vietnam scored a total of 13 goals at the 2026 ASEAN Cup, surpassing the 12 goals the team achieved in the 2022 and 2024 editions.

The win over Cambodia was not easy as Vietnam allowed the opponent to equalize 1-1 in the 71st minute. However, Vietnam scored two more goals in the final six minutes to complete a 3-1 victory.

As Group A winners, Vietnam will face the runner-up of Group B in the semi-finals. Based on current developments, Malaysia or Myanmar could finish second in Group B, while Thailand is widely expected to top the group. Vietnam has won the tournament three times, in 2008, 2018, and 2024.

British tennis bans transgender female athletes from competing in all women's events.

The Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) has issued new regulations stating that transgender women are not allowed to participate in women's matches, including club-level internal tournaments.

This decision was made after the UK Equality and Human Rights Commission issued new guidelines and was based on the UK Supreme Court's ruling on the definition of biological sex.

Previously, the LTA banned transgender women from competing in county, regional, and inter-club tournaments but allowed individual clubs to decide on internal events. The new regulation extends the ban to all women's matches.

Meanwhile, the WTA has also changed its policy regarding the eligibility of transgender athletes. Under the new rules, players must undergo an SRY gene test, typically performed via cheek swab, blood, or saliva, to determine their eligibility for women's events.

World No. 1 tennis player Aryna Sabalenka publicly supports this policy. She believes ensuring fairness in competition is necessary and stated she is ready to undergo testing if required.

Other sports organizations such as World Boxing and World Athletics have also implemented similar testing measures. The IOC is expected to conduct gender verification tests on athletes before the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
