On the evening of August 8, Beijing time, Lionel Messi's father, Jorge Messi, died at a hospital in Rosario, Argentina, at age 68.

Later, the Argentine Football Association released a message, on behalf of President Claudio Tapia, the Executive Committee, and the entire Argentine football family, stating that they stand with Messi, his brothers, family, and dear friends, and extend their most heartfelt condolences and care.

The Argentine Football Association also issued a board resolution document, stating that a minute of silence will be held before all matches across all levels of Argentine football in honor of Jorge Messi, with the referee team, players, and coaching staff wearing black armbands.

Meanwhile, flags at all Argentine Football Association facilities will be flown at half-mast for one week, until Friday, August 14.

In addition to the Argentine Football Association, many clubs also issued statements mourning Messi's father.
