According to an official announcement from the Shanghai Football Association on August 9 (Beijing time), the final of the Tomorrow's Star Champions Cup was called off because of a typhoon. As a result, the U17 national team and Arsenal's U17 side, both finalists, will share the championship title, and no makeup match will be held. Moreover, the U17 national team secured the honors for the tournament's Best Player, Best Coach, and Best Goalkeeper.

In this edition of the Tomorrow's Star Champions Cup, the Chinese U17 men's football team achieved three consecutive wins in the group stage against Arsenal, Athletic Bilbao, and Bayer Leverkusen, and then defeated River Plate in a penalty shootout in the semifinals.

As for Arsenal U17, although they advanced as the second-place team in Group A, they eliminated Shanghai U17 in a penalty shootout in the semifinals to meet the U17 national team in the final.

Zhao Songyuan played in all four matches of the tournament, starting in two, scoring two goals and providing one assist.
