Goal fest: Malaysian team stuns Chelsea

(Football result) - Johor Darul Ta’zim created a huge upset by competing on equal terms and earning a 3-3 draw against Chelsea in an exciting friendly at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium.

Chelsea entered the match with many young players and substitutes, having just secured a 3-0 victory over AC Milan about 24 hours earlier. Nevertheless, a lineup including Nicolas Jackson, Liam Delap, Estevao, Jamie Gittens, and Geovany Quenda was still considered far superior to the Malaysian champions.

Chelsea increased the pressure, but the final touches from Estevao and Nicolas Jackson were lacking accuracy. It wasn't until the 42nd minute that Liam Delap brought the match back to square one with a cool penalty kick after he himself was fouled by Kevin Medina in the penalty area.

After the break, the English team was awarded another penalty when Jamie Gittens was obstructed by Oscar Arribas. Delap converted successfully again in the 62nd minute, completing his brace and helping Chelsea take a 2-1 lead.

However, the Blues' advantage lasted only three minutes. Oscar Arribas redeemed himself with a tricky free kick that placed the ball into the top corner, leveling the score at 2-2. By the 86th minute, the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium truly erupted when Bergson unleashed a shot from outside the box, beating goalkeeper Gaga Slonina and re-establishing the lead for Johor DT.

Chelsea avoided a humiliating defeat in the 89th minute. From a cross by Mykhailo Mudryk, Delap's header caused pressure that made Cristian Glauder awkwardly score an own goal. In stoppage time, Arif Aiman had a chance to decide the match but failed to beat Slonina.

The 3-3 draw was a proud result for Johor DT, while the loose defense continued to leave many concerns for Chelsea ahead of the new season. The representative of the English Premier League clearly still has a lot to improve if they do not want to continue through another disastrous season.
