Arsenal did not give up. In the 68th minute, Tzolis continued to make an impact by driving into the penalty area and being fouled, earning a penalty for the home side. From the spot, Gyokeres finished accurately to cut the deficit to 2-3 and bring the match back to a tight contest.

In the final 20 minutes, Arsenal pushed forward in search of an equalizer. Nwaneri almost had a chance to break through one-on-one but was stopped in time by Bensebaini. On the other end, Dortmund also had a chance to finish the game when Guirassy broke through, but the 16-year-old Salmon made a precise sliding tackle to save the home side.

In the 90+3rd minute, Arsenal thought they had found the equalizer. After a short corner routine, Martinelli put the ball into Dortmund's net, but the goal was disallowed for offside.
