HAGL faces a Thai team coached by Park Hang-seo

HAGL goes to Thailand for a pre-season camp, with a notable showdown against the team led by Park Hang-seo.

Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL) will have a nearly two-week training camp in Thailand to prepare for the 2026/2027 season. The highlight of this trip is the clash with Kanchanaburi, the team currently under the guidance of coach Park Hang-seo.

HAGL is scheduled to depart for Thailand on August 11 and return on August 22. The mountain-town team will bring about 40 players on the preliminary list, before the coaching staff trims the squad for the new season registration. This is considered a crucial period for coach Le Quang Trai to evaluate personnel and build an optimal core.

During their stay in Thailand, HAGL will play a total of 5 friendlies against opponents including Suphanburi, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Uthai Thani, and Pattani. This series of matches allows players to test tactical execution and accumulate match experience before the official season begins.

The focus of the training camp is undoubtedly the encounter with Kanchanaburi, a team currently competing in Thai League 2. Notably, Kanchanaburi is now led by coach Park Hang-seo, who had a long association with Vietnamese football. The clash therefore draws significant attention, especially as the Korean tactician will have a chance to face a club from Vietnam.

For HAGL, the trip is not just a series of friendlies but also an opportunity for the coaching staff to finalize the squad before the new season. Facing Thai clubs with different styles and intensities will help the mountain-town team better identify their strengths and weaknesses, thereby continuing to adjust their tactics and personnel.

After completing the training camp, HAGL will shift focus to the V.League 2026/2027. The mountain-town team kicks off the season with an away trip to Nam Dinh on September 4. Before that, the 5 friendlies in Thailand, especially the match against coach Park Hang-seo's team, will be a notable test for HAGL's ambitions.
