HOT: Despite changing the entire lineup, Vietnam still won 4-0 against Japan

U20 Vietnam secured a 4-0 victory in their second friendly in Japan, with a completely different starting eleven.

On the afternoon of August 10th, the U20 Vietnam team continued with their second friendly match during their training camp in Japan. Their opponents, under head coach Yutaka Ikeuchi, were Koukou High School. After 90 minutes, U20 Vietnam won 4-0. Tan Minh opened the scoring in the first half. In the second half, Cong Hau scored a brace, before Quang Anh sealed the 4-0 victory for U20 Vietnam.

In this match, the coaching staff continued to rotate the squad. The players who started in the friendly against Osaka University of Economics the previous day were given rest, while the remaining players were all given the opportunity to play.

Proper distribution of playing time is essential as U20 Vietnam undergoes a dense schedule during the training camp. With a squad of 30 players, the coaching staff has the opportunity to calculate, test personnel in many positions, and evaluate each player's capability, thereby better serving the process of building the team for the 2027 U20 Asian Cup Qualifiers.

According to the plan, the team has four more friendly matches on August 12, 13, 15, and 16, before ending the training camp on August 17 and returning home. In Group C of the 2027 U20 Asian Cup Qualifiers, U20 Vietnam will face North Korea, Palestine, and Iran respectively. The matches will take place from August 31 to September 6 at Viet Tri Stadium (Phu Tho).

Previously, the U20 Vietnam team regrouped from August 3 at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center with a squad of 30 players. This gathering includes many faces who have gained experience at the 2026 ASEAN U19 Championship held in June, and also added some promising talents such as:

Nguyen Van Khanh, Bach Trong Duong, Le Tan Dung, Nguyen Van Bach, Nguyen Thien Phu, Tran Gia Bao, Le Van Hoan… Through the first training sessions, the whole team quickly adapted, showing a serious training spirit and determination towards achieving good results at the 2027 U20 Asian Cup Qualifiers.
