The Vietnam national team receives crucial news ahead of the 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup.

Vietnam's national team recently got significant news on the eve of the 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup, with the Indonesian Football Association announcing Jakarta and Bandung as the main locations for the first edition's games.

According to the latest confirmation, the 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup will be held from September 21 to October 3, 2026, in Indonesia. Jakarta and West Java have been chosen as the two main hosting regions, with the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium (Jakarta) and Si Jalak Harupat Stadium (Bandung) hosting the matches.

This information was released after an inter-agency meeting organized by the Indonesian Ministry of Youth and Sports. The country's relevant authorities are coordinating to finalize preparations and meet the requirements set by the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) in the hosting agreement.

Notably, Minister Erick Thohir revealed that President Prabowo Subianto personally provided the Indonesian government's guarantee to FIFA. Subsequently, FIFA officially responded and confirmed Indonesia as the host of the tournament.

Thohir called this a historic moment for Indonesia, as the country becomes the host of the first FIFA ASEAN Cup. The Indonesian government also hopes that such major international tournaments will continue to be held in the country in the future.

With the first edition held in Indonesia, Group A consists of host Indonesia, India, Malaysia, and Singapore. Meanwhile, the Vietnam national team is in Group B alongside Thailand, the Philippines, and Pakistan.

With PSSI confirming that Gelora Bung Karno and Si Jalak Harupat are the two selected stadiums, it is highly likely that Gelora Bung Karno will host the Group A matches, featuring the host Indonesia. The Group B matches of the Vietnam national team are expected to be held at Si Jalak Harupat Stadium, a city nearly 800 meters above sea level, about 180 km from the capital Jakarta.
