Real puts its faith in the 125 million Euro blockbuster, inheriting Vinicius's legacy.

Real Madrid awards the number 25 shirt to the 125 million Euro recruit, pinning great hopes on the 19-year-old prodigy as he aims to take over the Bernabeu and succeed the old star.

Real Madrid has officially handed the number 25 shirt to Yan Diomande, the Ivorian newcomer who is expected to become the next star at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Real Madrid confirms that Diomande will wear the number 25 jersey in his first season in Spain. This number has been previously worn by several notable figures of the royal club before they moved on to more iconic shirts.

Rodrygo once wore number 25 before switching to number 11, and Eduardo Camavinga also started with this number before choosing number 6. Most notably, Vinicius Junior, who also wore number 25 before taking over the legendary number 7 at the Bernabeu.

Number 25 also has a special history with Real Madrid goalkeepers. Thibaut Courtois used this number in his first season with the club, while legends Iker Casillas and German goalkeeper Bodo Illgner also wore number 25.

However, what draws even more attention to Diomande is the transfer fee. Real Madrid completed the signing of the 19-year-old from RB Leipzig for 125 million Euros, while the total value could rise to 140 million Euros if add-ons are activated.

With a base fee of 125 million Euros, Diomande stands alongside Florian Wirtz among the players with the highest transfer fees in Bundesliga history. Only Jude Bellingham at 127 million Euros and Ousmane Dembele at 148 million Euros have higher fees. The contract between Diomande and Real Madrid runs until year 2033, indicating that the Spanish club sees him as a long-term investment for the future.

On his presentation day, Diomande could not hide his emotion as he said that joining Real Madrid was “a childhood dream”. Now, the young Ivorian talent must prove that he is worth the huge price tag and the expectations of inheriting the stars who once wore the number 25 at the Bernabeu.
