Just days before the Miami Open, Medvedev faced a baggage loss problem with United Airlines. The former US Open champion had to urgently recover his personal items before the tournament and has publicly appealed to United Airlines for assistance.
The Russian tennis star is set to return to the court on Friday, beginning his Miami Masters journey, aiming to recover from his defeat to Sinner in the Indian Wells Masters final last weekend.

However, after flying from California to Florida, travel issues disrupted his preparation rhythm. According to Medvedev, his suitcase did not arrive with the flight after traveling from Palm Springs International Airport to Florida. Reports indicate the lost luggage contained his personal items, and with only days left before the Miami Open, the 2021 US Open champion turned to social media for help.
The 30-year-old player posted on social platform X, directly addressing the airline to resolve the issue quickly: "Hello @United... need a little help. Yesterday flying from Palm Springs International Airport to Florida, none of my bags arrived. I need these bags for the @MiamiOpen... can you assist?"

With the tournament approaching, United Airlines must locate and return the luggage promptly, as time is running out. Baggage loss is an annoying hassle for any traveler, but for a professional athlete preparing for a major event, the situation is even more urgent.
Fortunately, the airline quickly responded to the message, requesting more information to investigate the matter: "Hello, Daniel. Thank you for reaching out. We're sorry to hear about your delayed baggage and fully understand the importance of retrieving your items quickly. Please DM your delayed baggage file number so we can check the latest status for you."

This travel mishap occurred during a busy phase of the ATP Tour schedule, with Medvedev having just delivered an impressive performance at the Indian Wells Open. Although he ultimately lost to Sinner in the final, the Russian player showcased several thrilling matches during the event. Among his most notable achievements was defeating Alcaraz in the semifinals, ending the Spanish player's winning streak.
Before the match, Alcaraz had achieved 16 consecutive wins in 2026, having won the Australian Open and Qatar Open earlier in the year. Medvedev's victory over the Spanish star in California also disrupted the widely anticipated scenario of Alcaraz and Sinner meeting again in the final.

This victory was significant for the Russian player, who had previously lost four consecutive matches to Alcaraz, including the 2024 Indian Wells Open final. This was also Medvedev's first win over the Spanish player since the 2023 US Open semifinals.
The match garnered considerable attention off the court as well. Global pop star Dua Lipa was present in the audience, and her reactions during Alcaraz's early struggles became popular online. However, Medvedev now faces a more pressing issue in preparing for the Miami Open. With only days left before the tournament, the Russian player hopes United Airlines can quickly locate the lost luggage so he can fully focus on competing for another major title on the ATP Tour.Source: Tennis Home Author: Spark
