Carlos Alcaraz exits in the third round of Miami Open 2026

Korda is the lowest-ranked player to defeat Alcaraz since world number 55 David Goffin surprised by overcoming the Spanish star in the second round of Miami Open last year.

After a perfect start with 16 consecutive wins in 2026, Alcaraz has now lost two of his last three matches, including the defeat to Daniil Medvedev in the semifinals of Indian Wells.

Alcaraz began 2026 by winning his 7th career Grand Slam title and completing the Career Grand Slam with victory at the Australian Open. The Spanish player only suffered his first loss of the season when he lost to Daniil Medvedev in the semifinals of Indian Wells.

For Korda, this victory allows the American player to advance, while creating one of the biggest surprises at Miami Open 2026. This player will now strive to repeat his best performance in Miami, where he reached the quarterfinals in 2021 and 2025. Korda's next opponent will be 20-year-old qualifier Martin Landaluce in the fourth round.

After having to take a two-and-a-half-month break in 2025 due to a right tibia fracture injury and dropping to position 86 on the PIF ATP rankings, Korda has returned strongly with impressive form.
