OFFICIAL: Southeast Asia's No. 1 tennis ranking changes hands

There have been significant fluctuations in the rankings of some Southeast Asian tennis players in the latest updated tennis rankings this week.

The world tennis rankings were updated most recently on March 30, Vietnam time. Here, the top spot in Southeast Asian tennis has temporarily changed hands following the results at the Miami Open 2026.

Accordingly, Janice Tjen becomes the current No. 1 female tennis player in Southeast Asia with a ranking of 41 - dropping one spot compared to last week. The young Indonesian star ranks 4 spots above Alexandra Eala - who lost a significant amount of points due to not being able to repeat her semifinal achievement in Miami from one year ago.

Eala dropped as many as 16 spots and fell to the 45th position in the world. At the recent Hard Rock Stadium, the reigning SEA Games champion advanced to the quarterfinals (lost to Karolina Muchova), but that impressive result was insufficient to help her maintain her ranking within the top 30.

Both Tjen and Eala have significant opportunities to improve their rankings in the upcoming clay season. Tjen is currently participating in the WTA 500 Charleston (USA), while Eala will return at the WTA 500 Upper Austria Ladies Linz (Austria) starting on April 6.

Other positions in the top 5 of female players with the best rankings in the Southeast Asian region are Lanlana Tararudee (Thailand - rank 112), Mananchaya Sawangkaew (Thailand - rank 190), and Priska Nugroho (Indonesia - rank 419).
