Today, March 18, marks the opening day of the volleyball tournament Hoa Lu - Binh Dien Cup 2026 — an event held at the Ninh Binh Gymnasium. The host representatives — both the men's and women's LPB Ninh Bình teams will play, but the more noteworthy match is the showdown between VTV Binh Dien Long An and Hanoi Tasco Auto.

VTV Binh Dien Long An is the only women's team using a foreign player in this year's competition with the familiar name Lianet Garcia. However, challenges still await Coach Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hoa and her team ahead, as Hanoi Tasco Auto has been the most active team in the transfer market this early year, bringing in a lineup of national team stars along with Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet.

This match will also witness Vietnamese national team libero Nguyen Khanh Dang reuniting with her former team VTV Binh Dien Long An, which helped her rise to fame.

The Hoa Lu - Binh Dien Cup 2026 takes place in Ninh Binh from March 18 to March 23, being the first official tournament of the Vietnamese professional volleyball season. The competition gathers 12 top men's and women's teams, divided into the following groups:

• Women's Event

Group A: VTV Binh Dien Long An, Hanoi Tasco Auto, VietinBank

Group B: LPB Ninh Binh, Thong Tin - Dong Bac, XMLS Thanh Hoa

• Men's Event

Group A: Ho Chi Minh City, Border Guard, Ho Chi Minh City Police

Group B: LPB Ninh Binh, Hanoi, The Cong Tan Cang

Teams will play round-robin matches for points; the top two teams from each group will qualify for the semifinals, followed by knockout matches to determine the champion. The bottom-ranked teams in each group will compete for 5th-6th place.

The reigning champions of the men's and women's events of the Hoa Lu - Binh Dien Cup are Border Guard and LPB Ninh Binh respectively.
