Vietnamese female volleyball star nearly 1.9m tall receives good news, full of hope to join top 5 volleyball league in the world

Next season, the Japanese national league increases foreign player quota. This means more opportunities for Vietnamese players to go abroad, including Lưu Thị Huệ.

The opposite hitter from Hà Nam (former) possesses a height of 1.85m, ideal for playing in the Japanese national league. While not outstanding, Lưu Thị Huệ's blocking and attacking abilities are above average compared to current Vietnamese opposite hitters.

The Japanese national volleyball league is highly competitive, requiring strong physical foundation and high discipline. This league helps players improve significantly. Lưu Thị Huệ's major advantage is her good height.

With an ideal height of 1.85m, Lưu Thị Huệ is one of the tallest opposite hitters in Vietnamese women's volleyball currently.

Even in the Japanese league, there aren't many opposite hitters with similar or greater height, so alongside the need for high-level foreign main attackers or setters, many Japanese clubs also want to strengthen the opposite hitter position.

Compared to many established European and American players, Japanese women's volleyball clubs can pay Southeast Asian players lower salaries, so they also want to explore this region for talent.

With an ideal height of 1.85m, Lưu Thị Huệ is one of the tallest opposite hitters in Vietnamese women's volleyball currently.

According to Volleybox data, the athlete from Hà Nam (former) has a spike reach of 3m and a block reach of 2.80m, impressive figures in current women's volleyball. In her career so far, Lưu Thị Huệ has played for 3 clubs: Industry and Trade Bank, Than Quảng Ninh, and currently LPBank Ninh Bình.

2024 saw her achieve many successes, such as winning the Hoa Lư Bình Điền Cup, becoming runner-up in the AVC Club 2024, and competing in the Women's Club World Championship in China.

At the national team level, Lưu Thị Huệ once helped the Vietnamese women's team win silver at SEA Games 2019 and 2022; won VTV Cup 2018; was runner-up in VTV Cup 2019 and placed second in SEA V.League 2022.

With remarkable achievements, Lưu Thị Huệ entered the top 10 best opposite hitters in Vietnamese women's volleyball history ranked by Volleybox. Notably, considering only 2024, she ranks third on this list, behind only two senior players Nguyễn Thị Trinh and Lê Thanh Thúy.

Unfortunately, when her career was progressing well, she suffered a cruciate ligament injury in March 2023 and had to rest for 10 months before returning to LPBank Ninh Bình in early 2024.

In the recent 2025 national volleyball league, Lưu Thị Huệ frequently shone, scoring many important points for LPBank Ninh Bình and contributing significantly to help the team become runner-up overall.

With impressive performances, the 1.85m tall opposite hitter was called back to the national team by coach Tuấn Kiệt to participate in SEA Games 33. This is meaningful recognition for Lưu Thị Huệ's efforts and talent.

With important changes in the Japanese national league next season, the opposite hitter of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team could very well join a top 5 volleyball league in the world next season.
