Set 1: Hanoi 22-25 VietinBank
Despite having a roster of national team members and promising young players, Hanoi Tasco Auto performed poorly in the first set, with clumsy first-step receptions and suboptimal passes from the setter.
On the other side, VietinBank excelled in blocking with the contribution of auxiliary player Phuong Quynh, while in scoring, the main attacker from the Central Highlands - H'Mia E Ban played exceptionally well, greatly aiding VietinBank's victory in the opening set.
Set 2: Hanoi 25-22 VietinBank
Another set where Hanoi Tasco Auto fans endured anxiety. Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet's team gained an early 3-point lead, but issues with both first and second passes caused them to lose the advantage. Setter Yen Nhi's poorly adjusted plays allowed Hanoi to trail until a final scoring surge in the set.
VietinBank's strategy of focusing attacks on E Ban was read by Hanoi's blockers, leading the bank team to repeatedly lose points in their offensive plays. Even though auxiliary player Thuy Linh subsequently lost two consecutive points, the capital team brilliantly reversed the situation thanks to libero Khanh Dang and main attacker Nhu Quynh. The match returned to a level footing.
Set 3: Hanoi 25-11 VietinBank
A performance that could hardly be more "devastating" from Hanoi Tasco Auto. The tense psychology eased after the impressive win in set 2, Hanoi players competed confidently, freely, and with high efficiency. Not only Nhu Quynh, but Thuy Vi, Anh Thao, and even setter Yen Nhi shone in different ways.
Conversely, VietinBank unexpectedly crumbled, unable to maintain the necessary intensity from the previous two sets, widening the gap between the teams. Hanoi secured a 14-point margin victory to reverse the lead to 2-1.
Set 4: Hanoi 25-27 VietinBank
Hanoi Tasco Auto continued to dominate as Nhu Quynh, Le Thuy, and Thuy Linh played prominently, helping the capital representative quickly gain advantage. On VietinBank's side, main attacker E Ban showed signs of fatigue.
It seemed that would be the end for the bank representative, but two toss-and-drop situations by Yen Nhi allowed VietinBank to catch up. Even after regaining momentum and leading 24-22, meaning two match-points, Coach Tuan Kiet's team failed to capitalize, even letting VietinBank surge to win 27-25.
Set 5: Hanoi 11-15 VietinBank
Now the psychological advantage belonged to Coach Le Van Dung's team. Despite trailing early, VietinBank played with full confidence, solid defense, and effective attacks, while Hanoi Tasco Auto made many unnecessary errors.
Severely diminished competitive spirit prevented Hanoi Tasco Auto from reversing the situation. The first five-set match of this year's Hoa Lu - Binh Dien Cup concluded with victory for VietinBank, the bank representative along with VTV Binh Dien Long An secured a semifinal spot.
Final result, VietinBank won Hanoi Tasco Auto 3-2 (25-22; 22-25; 11-25; 27-25; 15-11).
