AVC Cup 2026 Volleyball Results: South Korea Women's Team Secures Impressive Victory

The first round of the 2026 AVC Women's Volleyball Cup featured thrilling games as the tournament began.

In Pool A, both the South Korean women's team and the hosts Philippines made an impressive start, each posting a 3-0 record after the first round.

South Korea dominated Kyrgyzstan with set scores of 25-7, 25-5, 25-7, while the Philippines defeated Uzbekistan 3-0 (25-16, 25-12, 25-14). These two teams currently lead the group with 3 points each and a superior set ratio.

Head coach Cha Sang Hyun of the South Korean women's team secured his first victory in his debut match as head coach. Park Yeo Reum (Cheong Kwan Jang club) was the team's top scorer with 12 points, including 6 service aces. Lee Ye Rim (Hyundai E&C) recorded 10 points, and Lee Da Hyun (Heungkuk Life Insurance) contributed 8 points.

In Pool B, the Vietnamese women's team made a strong statement by defeating Lebanon 3-0 with set scores of 25-3, 25-15, and 25-14.

In the same pool, Kazakhstan also won 3-1 against Hong Kong (China), while Indonesia defeated Iran by the same 3-1 margin. After the first round, Vietnam, Kazakhstan, and Indonesia all have 3 points, sharing the top positions in Pool B.

According to the tournament format, the top two teams from each pool will advance to the semifinals, while the remaining teams will compete in classification matches.

Coach Tuan Kiet and his players are currently leading Pool B and are considered strong candidates for a semifinal spot. Tomorrow (June 7), the Vietnamese women's team will face Hong Kong (China).

The 2026 AVC Cup is a tournament for teams that do not participate in the Volleyball Nations League (VNL). A total of 12 teams are competing in this event, divided into two pools for a single round-robin. Matches in the 2026 AVC Cup earn points towards the world rankings.
