Coach Tuan Kiet finalizes the Vietnamese women's volleyball team roster for the 2026 Asian Championship

The Vietnamese women's volleyball team has finalized the 14 athletes for the 2026 Asian Championship in China. This group is also anticipated to drive the team's ambitions of making a strong run in the Asian arena.

After returning home from the second leg of the 2026 SEA V.Cup, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team continued training at the Bac Ninh Sports University. The coaching staff has completed the selection process and chosen 14 players for the 2026 Asian Championship.

This roster was built based on performance and the professional requirements of head coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet. It also serves as a key force for the preparation of the 20th Asian Games, which takes place after the Asian Championship. In fact, this lineup is not much different from the personnel that just participated in the second leg of the 2026 SEA V.Cup in Thailand. The most notable change is simply the return of Coach Tuan Kiet to the head coach position, while legend Ngoc Hoa returns as an assistant.

The squad for the 2026 Asian Championship, aside from some absences due to various objective reasons, continues to blend the experience of Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, Le Thanh Thuy, Tran Thi Bich Thuy, and others with a number of young talents such as Pham Quynh Huong, Bui Thi Anh Thao, Le Nhu Anh, and more.

According to regulations, each team is allowed to register a maximum of 14 players for the 2026 Asian Championship. Meanwhile, the 20th Asian Games only permits 12 athletes per team in the women's volleyball event. Therefore, after the tournament in China, Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet will continue to select and trim the squad to prepare for the continental event in Japan.

The 2026 Asian Women's Volleyball Championship will take place in Tianjin, China, from August 21 to 30. The Vietnamese team is in Group C alongside Japan, South Korea, and Hong Kong (China). This is a major challenge for Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his players, as the group features top-tier opponents from the continent.

After the Asian Championship, the next goal for the Vietnamese team is the 20th Asian Games, where the entire squad aims to reach the semifinals and defend the fourth-place finish achieved at the previous Asian Games.
